The Chateau d'Andouis, dating from the 10th century sits on top of a rock surrounded by gorgeous countryside. It offers a majestic 360˚ view of the beautiful Vallée de L'Aygues. North of the chateau lies Luberon, originally Ansouis, a military fortress built to protect the entrance to Provence, in the south of France. Ansouis is called the Pearl of Luberon because of its beautiful terraces, the warm color of its walls, and its imposing presence.

The Chateau was purchased during a traditional candle sale in 2008 by Gérard and Frédérique Rousset-Rouvière. A very old French custom, a candle light sale is an official public sale in Paris consisting of bidding on a property while a candle is burning. When the candle goes out within 10-15 seconds, the property belongs to the last (and highest) bidder. A magical and unique site in Provence, Frederique and Gerard plan to continue to restore the property to its original medieval glory.
